Hioki FA1240-61 (FA1241-61, FA1240-63) is a printed circuit board (PCB) inspection system that uses a flying probe method for measurement and inspection, particularly effective with ultra-small surface-mount components. This device is used to verify the correct installation of components on the circuit board in the production line, similar to the ICT (In-Circuit Test) method but with the ability to measure more accurately with a very small probe distance.
This device is primarily used in electronics manufacturing to test the quality and reliability of circuit boards, especially those with high component density and small dimensions.
Precise electronic testing: The FA1240-61 performs resistance, capacitance, inductance, and diode measurements to detect faults such as open circuits, short circuits, or faulty/incorrectly installed components.
Micro-Surface Mount Device (SMD) Inspection: With an extremely small probe distance (minimum 0.2mm), the machine can measure ultra-small surface mount components (as small as 0.1005), overcoming the limitations of traditional inspection methods (ICT) which are restricted by probe distance.
High speed: The machine is capable of fast testing, up to 0.025 seconds per measurement step, which helps increase production efficiency.
Large-area testing: The FA1240-61 model has a large testing area of 510 × 460 mm, suitable for large-sized circuit boards.
Contact fault detection and automatic alignment: The device features float status detection and false contact detection of the IC, along with automatic alignment and simple visual inspection, ensuring high accuracy during measurement.
Versatile applications: In addition to PCB and component inspection, the machine is also used for automated solder quality testing of battery modules and other component quality inspection applications.

Hioki PCB and substrate inspection equipment leverages our core competency in high precision component testing. The FA1240 series is a 4-arm populated board inspection tool that delivers multi-functional testing in as fast as 0.025 sec./step.
The Hioki FA1240-61 is a specific model within the FA1240 series of flying probe testers, mainly used for high-speed, high-precision electrical inspection of populated (assembled) printed circuit boards (PCBs) without requiring a custom test fixture for each board type
