HI4010-05 is a TISAB II ionic strength adjustment solution for fluoride ion selective electrodes (ISEs). Hanna ISA solutions are formulated to fix the ionic strength of the sample and standards so that they are both constant. Without the addition of ISA, an ion selective electrode will measure that ion activity; adding ISA stabilizes the ionic strength and allows the measurement to be made as ion concentration. With some ISEs, ISA solutions are also used to adjust the pH of the solution or to remove any potential interference from competing ions present.
TISAB II is a concentrated ISA solution for water sample analysis to provide samples and standards with the same ionic strength. It also adjusts the pH of the solution and complexes with various metal ions, such as aluminium and iron, forming complexes with fluoride. The complexing ability of TISAB II ensures that total fluoride can be determined.
