The HI4013-53 nitrate module is used with ion selective electrodes. nitrate HI4013 half-cell (ISE). The liquid membrane sensor contains an organic polymer in an inert PVC matrix, which is responsible for the exchange of nitrate ions across the membrane. A charge imbalance develops between the sample and the internal cell in response to the action of the nitrate ions. The change in potential is proportional to the concentration of the ions in the solution.
The HI4013-53 nitrate half-cell module easily screws onto the body of the HI4013 probe, allowing for quick assembly or replacement. Pre-soaking the nitrate sensor in a dilute standard solution without an ionic strength (ISA) adjuster for at least half an hour prior to calibration will optimize sensor response. Refrigerating the HI4013-53 nitrate module will help extend its life.
